On Thursday May 23, 2013 the California Health Exchange released the tentative rates, which will be run through Covered California. The premium rates were unexpectedly lower than predicted by most Californians. Steve is very concerned with the fact that these rates seem to be artificially low compared to current premiums. He believes these rates are low to encourage more people to enroll in the exchange and get excited for lower cost insurance than what is available today on the individual market. However, Steve is concerned that within the next three years, these rates will increase to the current standard if not more.
